Water Sheiks and Damn Builders

As I started my research on the subject of water in dry climates such as Iran, I found the book Water Sheiks and Damn Builders: Stories of People and Water in the Middle East by Francesca de Chatel (2007) to be a useful resource. In particular, the book’s description of the ways in which underground water is mined in Middle East opens a new perspective on the subject of water and landscape.
